Summary of Expedition: Mantario trail is a challenging one-way hike. This 60 km trail takes the hiker over rugged Shield country and is accessible from PR 312 and Big Whiteshell Lake. The hike is rated as difficult which is why Aurora wants to ensure everyone is adequately prepared.  Trail is well marked but challenging. This is a multi-day trip that should only be attempted by those with backpacking and backcountry hiking experience - or consider a guide with Aurora! It is essential to pack and prepare accordingly as there are no amenities along the trail so again, Aurora can help you with this! This backpacking trail is typically done in 4 days/3 nights but can vary with your preferred pace and in the South to North direction.

 

The typical 4-day hike follows this order:

Day 1 - South Trail Head to Caribou Lake

Day 2 - Caribou Lake to Moosehead Lake

Day 3 - Moosehead Lake to Richie Lake

Day 4 - Richie Lake to North Trail Head
