At Round The Bend Farm in The Pas, participants will get involved with holistic and sustainable farming to help provide fresh local produce to communities. After a day of working on the farm, we will end with participants cooking bison and fresh vegetables over the open fire.
An outdoor Medicine Wheel is constructed by the group under the guidance of an Elder to learn how the four directions of the wheel can be used to promote balance in the four areas of Wellness – Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual Health. Offerings and prayers and a feast will be shared.
An outdoor Tipi is erected by the group under the guidance of an Knowledge Keeper to learn how the symbolism of each pole. People will find it a place of solace, a place to meditate or pray. Offerings and prayers and a feast will be shared.
The Sweat Lodge has been called “the most powerful structure in the world.” It is a place specially constructed to conduct ceremonies. Participants will learn from a local Knowledge Keeper the significance of the Lodge and how to prepare for it. Participants may request that a naming ceremony can be conducted at the sweat. Afterward, a feast will be shared with food that the participants will have prepared. The event will end in a sharing circle to de-brief what came up in the sweat. If drums have been made earlier, then can be used during the sweat if the sweat conductor permits.
